General

Who is this for ?

Guitar Trainer is a tool for apprentice musicians with a desire to deepen their knowledge of their instrument. You just need to know the basics of your instrument.

More experienced musicians can also use this tool to learn the broad variety of alternate tunings supported, or simply to help them tune their instruments by ear with the builtin tuning notes generator.

What do I need to play?

You will need a cell phone or other mobile device that supports Java applications and conforms to the CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0 standards. Most phones produced in the last few years should be able to handle the application. If you can already play games on your cell phone, chances are that you are all set!

If you are unsure about your phone, Mobref.com has a very comprehensive database of all phone models that will tell you if your phone is supposedly compatible.

You will also need about 118KB of available storage for the application and its data.

Can I try it out for free?

Absolutely, and we encourage you to do so before purchasing the full version. Try out the free demo on your mobile device, or directly from your computer!

Does it work on my phone ?

The application is very versatile and supports a wide variety of mobile devices, from the smallest black-and-white handset to full-blown PDAs.

A recent beta campaign was completed on many different devices. Click here for a breakdown of the devices that were tested. Phones from the following manufacturers were used succesfully (this list is in no way exhaustive!) :

  • Motorola
  • Nokia
  • Samsung
  • LG
  • HTC
  • Sanyo
  • Sony Ericsson
  • RIM BlackBerry

If your phone is running Windows Mobile, please check this FAQ for help getting proper Java support on your device.

Likewise, Palm users may check this FAQ for help setting up Java on their device.

The easiest way to find out if it works for you is still to try to install the free demo!

Is there an iPhone / iPod Touch version ?
